Pixelfed, the federated, open alternative to photo stream apps such as Instagram, announced recently that they will be launching a community org and incubator dedicated to a number of initiatives.
Dan, the project lead and main developer, had this to say:
“Pixelfed Labs will be establishing working groups to tackle a wide range of issues and topics related to pixelfed and social media.”
The new initiatives include, but aren’t limited to:
- The development of experimental features (Micro UI comes to mind)
- Establish working groups to improve the core project for things involving Abuse Prevention, Accessibility, Privacy, Youth Safety, and Dark Pattern Prevention
- Lower the barrier of entry for new developers by making contributing to the project easier.
