The asterism is the absolute worst symbol anybody could have come up with. It’s like proposing the Fediverse co-opt the Yield sign or something. It already exists and it has a pretty well defined use and meaning.

Now, if you want a truly unique symbol for the Fediverse… use the interrobang: ‽

Because that pretty much sums up the Fediverse today.
