Here are We Distribute, we’re big fans of Nostr. Short for “Notes and Other Stuff Transmitted Over Relays”, Nostr takes a very different approach to decentralized communication than the Fediverse does. Nevertheless, both networks share an overlapping common history, and are building towards similar goals.

We talked to Evan Henshaw-Plath, aka Rabble, who cofounded Nos.Social, a Nostr-focused company that develops its own client for the network. Prior to Nos, Rabble founded Planetary, which instead was built on Secure Scuttlebutt. Some time before that, he was a founding member of Twitter, and was Jack Dorsey’s boss for a time.

Evan brings a significant repertoire that directly intersects between technology and activism. Some of his early projects include work on Protest.net and IndyMedia, which were foundational concepts to decentralized networks today.
