Canvas 2024 is Live!

It's r/Place for the Rest of Us!

It’s that time of the year again! Canvas 2024 has once again been kicked off, and the mural has started strong. The effort is reminiscent of r/Place, Reddit’s annual collaborative art project. This time, however, the event isn’t limited to just Lemmy – the whole Fediverse is invited.

Various groups have started setting up templates over the past few days, in an effort to coordinate on art pieces for the collaborative mural. We’re still in the very beginning hours of the 2024 event, which only just started three hours ago.

Just as a brief side note: the app seems to be using an extremely novel approach for a login system. When I made my attempt, the app stated it didn’t know how to message me, and asked me to DM an authorization code. A few seconds after sending, the prompt immediately updated! I was able to log in from Akkoma without any problems!

Canvas is a 72-hour event, meaning there’s still plenty of time to get involved! Users can log in and place a maximum of six pixels on the mural. If you have a design in mind, try making a template, staking a location, and inviting a group!
