We’re here to produce high-quality media pieces, which include news articles, product reviews, user guides, podcast episodes, videos, and other mediums to help inform the public of everything happening within this space.

Benefits of Working With Us

We Distribute is a fledgling nonprofit startup. Currently, we’re tiny – a team of two cofounders and a small group of occasional contributors. Despite our size, we have a few distinct elements that set us apart:

Non-Profit Organization

We Distribute is incorporated as a Non-Profit, currently in the process of filing as a 501c3 charity. The goal is to operate a newsroom and media production company that isn’t beholden to venture capital or a board of investors.

We want to build an organization that doesn’t run on a “hyper-growth” mindset, that can bootstrap itself and employee great people for the long term. It’s slower than running as a VC-Funded Startup, but it avoids serious pitfalls.

The people that make up the We Distribute team live and breathe the space that we’re in. We’re constantly thinking about the problems and promises of the Social Web, and scouring the network to find the latest developments.

We are building a team of awesome, motivated, creative people that care deeply about the subject matter, who are excited to learn and share in the act of discovering new things together.

Open Web Principles

Our site is actively a part of the Fediverse, publishing articles to an audience over ActivityPub. We also syndicate to many different networks on the Web, following the POSSE principle.

Used together, these two ideas allow us to spread our news coverage all over the Web, while also participating in the networks we write about.

More Than a Tech Blog

Despite a heavy emphasis on an emergent technology space, We Distribute is also heavily invested in reporting not just on the technology and the network, but also the people living within it, and the culture of the spaces that have been built.

We are interested in telling human stories, at the intersection of culture and technology. We report the news as it happened, good or bad, and are committed to informing the public. We have no interest in only reporting on the positives while ommitting the negatives: We Distribute is not a propagandic mouthpiece.
